Donate your time to fly for Challenge Air for Kids and Friends. Help build confidence and self-esteem in children and youth with special needs through the gift of flight.
When you sign up to fly at one of our local Fly Days, you will experience something you did not dream possible. We often call our Challenge Air Pilots the ones who make the “magic happen”.
Without YOU, there is no Challenge Air.
What is expected? After you sign up on our website and provide Challenge Air with all the necessary documents, we will invite you to fly for the day at the designated site you signed up for. We expect our pilots to fly between 5- 6 missions lasting approximately 30 minutes in flight.
First: Ensure that you meet the minimum requirements to become a Challenge Air Pilot:
Requirements for an Approved Challenge Air Flights aircraft:
Join Volunteer Pilot and Board Member, Carl Corns as he walks you through a typical fly day event. Stay to the end for FAQ's.
Thank you for your service in building confidence and self esteem in children with special needs. You are about to embark on an experience that will surely make you smile! ❤️
Each flight takes around 30 minutes but the total time for the flight “experience” can vary from 45 minutes to an hour.
Challenge Air does not offer compensation or fuel reimbursement to volunteer pilots.
No, pilots often rent aircraft from a flight school or approved club owned plane. Pilots also volunteer on the flight line, dispatch and on the ramp if they do not have access to a plane.
